SMSF auditor portal access

Many self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) auditor tasks can be done online via the ASIC Regulatory Portal. This includes applying for registration as an SMSF auditor.

Before you start

You must sign up to the Regulatory Portal before you apply for registration as an SMSF auditor.

Steps to sign up for the ASIC Regulatory Portal

Start creating your account

  • Go to the .
  • If you already hold a licence or registration, select the ‘I want to connect to a licence or registration I hold’ tile.
  • Then select 'Self-managed superannuation fund auditor' as your licence or registration type from the drop-down list. When prompted, enter your auditor number and ASIC key.
  • If you do not hold a licence or registration, select the 'I just want to register' tile.

Enter your details

Enter the requested details, including an email address that will act as your username.

Make your declaration

Confirm your registration

  • Select the confirmation link in the email.
  • The confirmation link is valid for 8 hours from initial registration. If the link has expired, you will be redirected to a page that allows you to request a new confirmation email.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your email ‘trash’ or ‘junk’ folder.
  • If you still cannot find the confirmation email, go to the portal landing page and select the ‘Log in’ button. In the left-hand panel of the login page, select the ‘Already registered, but didn’t receive your confirmation email?’ link.

Set your password

  • Set and confirm your password for your account.
  • Your password must:
    • be 10 to 24 characters long
    • include at least one lowercase letter (a–z), one capital letter (A–Z) and one number (0–9)
    • not include your name.
  • You will then be directed to a confirmation page.

To verify that you continue to meet the conditions of registration, you must lodge an SMSF auditor annual statement using the Regulatory Portal.

Change your SMSF auditor details

From the top navigation bar, select ‘Transactions’ and select ‘All transactions index’ from the drop-down list. This will take you to a page listing all available transactions.

Click on ‘Change to details of professional registration’. This will take you to a landing page ‘SMSF auditor – Change to professional registration’. This page contains information about fees, relevant legislation and privacy.

At the bottom of the landing page, select ‘Launch transaction’. Change your details as directed.
