Business name holder portal access

If you hold a registered business name, you can use the ASIC Connect online service to update your registration details. You can also use ASIC Connect to register or renew a business name.

Before you start

To update your business name details, you need to:

ASIC’s Electronic Lodgement Protocol

Before signing up for ASIC Connect, read ASIC's Electronic Lodgement Protocol. The protocol includes ASIC’s requirements for storing signed documents that you lodge online.

Steps to sign up for ASIC Connect

Enter your details

  • Go to the and enter the requested details.
  • Your password must:
    • be at least 9 characters long
    • include at least one lowercase letter (a–z), one capital letter (A–Z) and one number (0–9)
    • not include 3 or more letters in a row from your username, first name or last name.

Agree to the Electronic Lodgement Protocol and create account

  • If you agree to the protocol select ‘Yes’. If you do not agree and select ‘No’ you will not be able to sign up.
  • Then select the ‘Create account’ button.

Activate account

You should receive an activation email within 15 minutes. Select the link in the email, or copy and paste it into a web browser.

ASIC key

To link a business name to your account, you will need an ASIC key. This is a 10-digit number that is unique to your business name. You can find your ASIC key on:

  • the letter we sent you when you registered your business name
  • your most recent business name renewal notice.

If you already have an ASIC Connect account and you know your ASIC key, you can skip to Steps to link a business name.

If you cannot find your ASIC key, you can request a new one. See our user guide:

Steps to link a business name

Log in to ASIC Connect

Use your username and password to .

Start linking the business name

  • If this is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to link a business name.
  • If you’ve logged in before, select ‘Link a business/Request ASIC key’ from the ‘Do It Now’ menu at the right of the screen.

Enter your details

  • Select ‘Yes’ to ‘Do you have an ASIC key for your business?’
  • For business type, select ‘Business name’.
  • Enter your date of birth, select your role in the business, and enter your ASIC key.
  • Select the ‘Link to Account’ button.

Confirmation

You will see a message confirming your business name has been linked.

What you cannot do using ASIC Connect

You cannot do the following tasks on ASIC Connect. Select a heading to see more information.

Hide personal details on the business names register

If you’re worried about your safety, you can ask us to hide some personal details from the public. You will need to download a paper form and send it via email or mail.

Change details on the companies register

If you have both a registered business name and a registered company, changing details for your business name on ASIC Connect will not change them on the companies register.

You must change these details separately, using the company officeholder portal or registered agent portal:
