The ASIC Regulatory Portal allows users to do some regulatory tasks online. Through the Regulatory Portal, you can act on behalf of multiple entities or invite someone else to act on your behalf.
Services on the Regulatory Portal
Currently, the Regulatory Portal provides services for:
- regulated entities with industry funding obligations
- self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) auditors
- Australian passport fund operators and foreign passport fund operators
- Australian financial services (AFS) licensees
- trusted representatives of regulated entities, such as company employees, compliance officers, registered agents, or service providers.
More services will be added to the Regulatory Portal in the future.

Before you start
The information you will need to sign up depends on your role and why you want to use the Regulatory Portal.
For example, if you have received an email inviting you to connect to an entity, you will need to provide the invitation key. If you are signing up to apply for a licence, you will only need to provide your personal details.
To sign up on behalf of an entity, you must be an authorised person, for example a:
Steps to sign up for the Regulatory Portal
Go to the ASIC Regulatory Portal
On the , select the ‘Register’ button.
Choose what you want to do on the Regulatory Portal
Select the tile that says what you want to do. It could be:
- ‘I want to connect to an entity using an industry funding security key’
- ‘I want to accept an invitation from a portal user’
- ‘I want to connect to a licence or registration I hold’
- ‘I want to act on behalf of a registered company or body’
- ‘I just want to register’
Enter your details
Enter the requested details, including an email address that will act as your username.
Make your declaration
Read ASIC Regulatory Portal: User Agreement, ASIC's Privacy Policy and the . If you agree to these terms and conditions, declare that you accept them. If you do not agree, you will not be able to sign up to the Regulatory Portal.
We will send you a confirmation email within 10 minutes.
Confirm your registration
- Select the confirmation link in the email.
- The confirmation link is valid for 8 hours from initial registration. If the link has expired, you will be redirected to a page that allows you to request a new confirmation email.
- If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your email ‘trash’ or ‘junk’ folder.
- If you’re still unable to find the confirmation email, go to the portal landing page and select the ‘Log in’ button. In the left-hand panel of the login page, select the ‘Already registered, but didn't receive your confirmation email?’ link.
Set your password
Set and confirm your password for your account.
Your password must:
- be 10 to 24 characters long
- include at least one lowercase letter (a–z), one capital letter (A–Z) and one number (0–9)
- not include your name.
You will then be redirected to a confirmation page.

What you can do using the Regulatory Portal
You can do the following tasks on the Regulatory Portal. Select a heading to see user guides and links for each task.
Before entering personal information about another person on the Regulatory Portal, read about third-party information consent.
Add and remove authentication apps
Background information
When you log in to the Regulatory Portal, you will be sent a one-time code by email to authenticate your log in attempt. You can also add an authentication app for added security.
If you have previously added an authentication app, you may need to remove it at some point. For example, you may want to use a different authentication app. If you need to reset the app, remove it then add it again.

Connect to an entity
Background information
To connect to an entity in the Regulatory Portal, you must either:
- have an existing role in or for that entity
- get an email invitation from a person with administrator or senior administrator access for that entity.
Senior administrator access is generally reserved for users such as:
- individual licence holders such as SMSF auditors, registered company auditors, AFS licensees, Australian credit licensees
- registered liquidators
- company officeholders
- partners in a partnership.
An invitation to connect to an entity will include an invitation key.
If you have an existing role in or for the entity, we will verify your information against our records.
If you hold a professional licence or registration with ASIC or are a registered company officeholder, we will verify the name you used to register for the portal against the name we have on our records.
If the name you used to create your account does not match our records, you will not be able to connect to the licence, registration or entity. You should check your own records to confirm what name you have used or go to .
If you are the first person to connect to an entity, you will be prompted to set up contact details for that entity.

Invite someone to connect to an entity
Background information
To invite users to connect to an entity, you must have senior administrator or administrator access for that entity. You can invite:
- company employees
- compliance officers
- registered agents
- service providers.
You can assign trusted representatives access to view confidential information and perform regulatory tasks on behalf of the entity. You only need to do this once.
Once invited, the representative will receive an invitation to the Regulatory Portal for the relevant entity. They will be able to perform the required duties on behalf of the entity they represent. For example, they will be able to submit industry funding business activity metrics.

You can see which entity you are acting on behalf of or if you are acting for yourself by looking at the top middle of the portal banner.

Only people with administrator and senior administrator access can change another user’s access.
You cannot change a user’s access to senior administrator. To make this change, the user must first disconnect from the entity and then reconnect to it as a senior administrator.

Background information
Before you can act on behalf of an entity, the entity needs to be registered in the Regulatory Portal by an authorised person. The authorised person needs to invite you to connect with the entity, as a trusted representative.

When we charge a fee, you’ll receive an invoice with the amount owing and your payment options.
Three different types of invoices are available in the Regulatory Portal:Ìý
- industry funding levy notices for regulated entities with industry funding obligations
- compensation 91AV of last resort levy notices
- other invoices for applications and transactions relating to licences, professional registrations, applications for relief and review of corporate finance transaction documents.
